Rainbow Run 2 MM_1088Sized

Sign up and Touch the CHSW Rainbow!

Newquay News: Woo hoo – Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) annual Rainbow Run bursts back to RAF St Mawgan on Sunday, June 25 at 1pm. An amazing 1600+ people have already signed up for this challenge but there are limited spaces left for a lucky few.

Anyone uninitiated to this afternoon of fabulous flamboyant fun should check out photos taken at last year’s event and try your hardest to find a face that is not smiling! Or those who have taken part in this crazy cacophony of colour might like to repeat their experience as well as signing up members of their family, friends or colleagues. The more the merrier.

Sponsored by Ann’s Cottage, the event is a 5km sponsored fun run which participants can walk, jog or run. The unique element of the event being that as runners make their way around they will get covered in different coloured powder paint as they go through the 5 paint stations along the route. It is really hard to work out who enjoys the event most – those who run (jog or walk) or the volunteers who try so hard to throw the pink, blue, yellow, green and orange powder paints at participants to ensure each and every one of them crosses the finishing line as colourful as possible.

There will be a 4km route for 5 to 10 year olds and their accompanying adults. This is the fourth CHSW Rainbow Run and since its inception some 4,000 people have got “rainbowed”, raising almost £200,000 for CHSW! Anyone from the age of five years can take part and through sponsorship can help to raise as much money as possible for CHSW.

If you are quick, you may be able to experience the most colourful fundraiser currently available in Cornwall. Registration costs £17.50 for an adult, £11 for a child, £51.30 for a family and groups of 10 cost £157.50. To sign up and to get information on how to get your fundraising started please go to CHSW Rainbow Run Register.

Children’s Hospice South West offers care and support to children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses and their families. CHSW has three children’s hospices including Little Harbour in St Austell which has now been open for five years and supports almost 100 families from across Cornwall and Plymouth.

Kiley Tellam, Events Fundraiser for CHSW, said “We are really excited for Rainbow Run 2017 which has proven to be a popular summer event people want to be a part of with over 1600 people signed up already. If you want to take part get registered as soon as possible while there are still places available, this isn’t something you would want to miss out on!”
