Art8 Line Up Announced

Art8 – Newquay’s annual arts and culture festival, is returning to the town from 18th – 20th May and the line up for this year’s festival has just been announced.

The team behind the festival are excited to have Steam Bar at the Great Western Hotel as a hub venue for the weekend. Steam will be hosting a large visual art exhibition all weekend as well as the festival’s Artisan Fayre which will happen on Sunday 20th May.

The festival will once again be providing a platform for local artists to exhibit their work as well as the opportunity for the community to experience artistic and cultural activities on their doorstep.

The festival continues to support local businesses by involving them as exhibition venues as well as spaces for workshops and events. Whiskers, The Green Heart Cafe, Tom Thumb, Sprout and Newquay Heritage and Archive Museum are just some of the other local businesses involved.

After launching this year’s festival programme at Newquay Orchard’s Spring Fayre at the weekend the team of volunteers behind Art8 are excited about what they have planned as part of Art8 2018.

Caroline Swain, Art8 Team Member said “Art8 isn’t just about visual art, it’s about all types of creativity being celebrated in Newquay. Alongside the visual art and photography that will be exhibited Art8 is also providing workshops in spoken word, life drawing, macrame and sketching. We are also teaming up with Blystra Arts for a performance piece at Treviglas and with Sprout for an evening of spoken word so there is lots to look forward to.”

To find out more about the festival’s line up visit the Art8 Facebook page or pick up a brochure from the Tourist Information Centre, Steam Bar, Coffee on the Corner, Whiskers or the Green Heart Cafe.

The Art8 mission is to transform Newquay into a regionally recognised creative and cultural hub. This is being achieved through supporting local artists, performers and community groups who have an interest in the arts by creating opportunities for them to promote, display and perform their work and to engage with the local community.
Art8 is a non-profit organisation set up by local volunteers in 2011 to organise the annual Newquay Arts and Culture Festival. During the year Art8 also supports a diverse range of arts based events in order to bring theatre, music and visual art to Newquay. Art8 aims for the highest stand of quality but also seeks to make art and performance accessible to all. Art8 also seeks to generate the necessary resources and efficiently manage those resources in support of our mission.
